Conservation
The Granary, Aldridge
Client Review from Freeindex
"Glyn Ellis is a remarkable young man with great professional skill and attention to detail. He paid close attention to our requirements and interpreted them into a scheme which had to meet both planning and conservation regulations. Our builders and the planning officers were impressed with the level of detail in the drawings. We are very pleased to recommend E. D Architecture. Mr and Mrs M Connop, Aldridge."
In a secluded cottage style property in a pleasant part of Aldridge was this nice little development. ED Architecture's responsibility was planning and building regulations submissions.
The clients brief was to obtain an enlarged dining room to the ground floor with a first floor extension above providing an additional bedroom and en-suite.
That is the introduction but why was is it so challenging? The site was located in a conservation area and the designated officer rightly so wanted the extension to be as sympathetic as possible. The general design of the extension also proved to be somewhat challenging. With the bedroom and en-suite been housed in basically the roof space this resulted in a very detailed set of drawings to guarantee the resultant space was the most efficient and effective use.
